EVERYDAY ICONS - ABU DHABI
NO. 0072 - 2 MOHAMMED BIN MASOUD AL MUHAIRBI STREET
The third and final in a series of three neighboring buildings that face onto Abu Dhabi’s Corniche.
This one’s truly unique. A relatively simple yet tall and elegant brown-glass tower, its corners are carved out reminiscent of the Muqarnas found in traditional Islamic architecture. The setbacks to these areas also incorporate traditional islamic pattern in the form of a screen (mashrabiya?). I particularly like the way this buildings appearance is constantly changing as it reflects the light and its surroundings.
Architect and completion date unknown.
