EVERYDAY ICONS - ABU DHABI

No. 0061 - 8 Al BAHHAR STREET

A near neighbor of the previous post - the Arab Monetary Fund building.

The blue and white tower stands just over 20 floors high. Its simple use of blue glass and contrasting off-white concrete structure contrast with its more in-your-face gold-coloured neighbor, but also now blend it in with the newer, taller glass towers that form its backdrop.

I particularly like the detail at ground and first floor levels where the inset 1st floor slab is set back from the exterior columns - a detail accentuated by the use of a contrasting marble and clear glass treatment.

Architect and completion date unknown.
