It’s taken 85 entries before the first villa compound features on the list! Situated off Al Karamah Street, I’ve passed this development hundreds of times when on the school run, and finally got around to taking some photographs the other day.

Not only is the massing really interesting - with numerous setbacks creating balconies, terraces and  garden spaces, but the little details are great too. I particularly like the vertical slots to the balconies (and the vertical rod inserts), and the use of semi-circular-profiled tiles stacked vertically as privacy screens at ground level.

It reminds me a tiny bit of some of Peter Barbers work in the UK…
